I forgot how much this book completely wrecked me. Like, you're just meandering around living your life and then this book hits you so hard in the heart that you can't breathe for awhile afterwards. The first two books are quality, and the prequel was pretty good, but this book is the most superb shit. I don't care how old I get, this book aimed towards little kids has some of the best writing that I've ever read. And god, by the end every square inch of your heart will ache.

Just. All the stars.

When I reread this again I will add more details, but for now all I can say is: it's amazing!

I got this a few years ago and have read it a couple of times now. I can remember the first time I finished it...I sobbed like a baby for a half hour. This book wraps up the trilogy perfectly and it's just excellent. Wow, did the characters grow throughout this series - it's so well put together!

I love this trilogy and recommend it to absolutely everyone.

I was not that big of a fan of the first two books in this trilogy, in fact, I didn't like them very much at all and this book did not change my opinion about that. Some of the things I didn't like about it are as follows. Firstly, Bartimaeus was made incredibly weak for the entire duration of the book and I found this particularly annoying since Bartimaeus was one of the few things I typically liked about the series. Then there was the fact that one of the main characters, Mandrake, made the conversion to total jerk, which made it hard to root for him and his success. Lastly, the return of Kitty from the previous book should have made me glad because I really did enjoy her sections of the previous book, but this time her chapters were not particularly interesting, as she spends most of the time just working her two jobs.

All in all, I'm glad I'm finished with the trilogy, but I didn't really enjoy the time that I spent reading it.

In all honesty, I'm not sure what I really think of this book. The ending was pretty cool, but the rest just felt way to dragged out. 99% percent of the time I felt like I could skip five pages and not have missed much. The idea of demons and magicians merging was cool. I loved the part where Kitty went to the other place. Bartimaeus had awesome commentary, per usual. In the Amulet of Samarkand Nathaniel was my favorite character possibly. He got annoying in the Golem's Eye. In this book, he was no better then the rest of the magicians. Kitty was a really cool character consistently. Bartimaeus was the best character overall. Though, Nathaniel did redeem himself in the end. Wasn't expecting him to die. That was really sad.
