Read this a couple years ago and I remember this being the most average book ever. interesting premise but forgettable. Easy 1-2 day read though.

After an alien spaceship crashes in the Midwest, Alice and her NASA bigwig father move there to investigate it. This is a fast-paced, scifi thriller that works well until a muddled and overly frantic final section. Native American rituals and traditions are integral to the plot, however Debbie Reese does not recommend this book. Thanks to Harper Collins and Edelweiss for the digital ARC. See my full review here.

Unlike anything I've read in a while. Pretty crazy plot twist. Fun read with a good message on friendship, loyalty, standing up for what you believe in, and being a good leader.

Aliens without too much romance
The plot twists about the aliens really keep you on your toes and I really enjoyed learning more about Native American culture

I read this book for my libraries YA for Adult book club.
I great introduction to Alien Invasion for the Young Adult crowd. The main character was a total brat but she grew on me by the end of the book. I loved the Native American folk lore. It really added to the story. Robison could total make a series out of this if he wanted to.

DNF at 25 pages in. I read Variant by this author last year and enjoyed it a lot...and then DNF the sequel to it a week later. I was hoping for a better experience here but the MC is literally insufferable. Everyone is rich, beautiful, and quirky and just oh so fucking witty. INSUFFERABLE.

I was disappointed in the book. I felt like it was a great build-up and then lets hurry up and finish.

I wanted so much for this book to be that action packed alien invasion story. Sadly it didn't deliver in the ways I had hoped. The main setting for Dark Energy is at the Minnetonka school for the gifted. And I mean you spend 90% of the book there. Not really moving the story along until chapter 13 when the story quickly picks up. Impact it picks up so quickly that the ending seems forced with no real resolution to the invasion. If the ending had been better I would have given four stars.

This book is a good rendition of things that aren't what they seem to be. Confused? You've got to read the book to find out what I'm talking about. This girl doesn't do spoilers.
When I first started reading this book, I have to say the tv show Star Crossed kept coming to my mind. You have your lead female character, her classmates, aliens that crash land and suddenly a couple are put into their ultra private school. Sound familiar? I kept on pushing through though. I'm glad that I did.
There are some really good twists in this story. The author went were few authors do, when it comes to aliens and lineage of them. He definitely did his homework there. But to me, the characters themselves were all under developed. Not just one, but all. It felt like the author had a good story and someone said, you have 24 hours to make this into a book. Everything had so much potential, but things kept falling short. And the wrap up was just too quick and clean. This would have been a good start off for at least a duology.
After saying all that, I did enjoy the book and recommend it to YA readers of scifi, who aren't into the nitty gritty. I don't feel that dedicated scifi readers will have a true connection with the story. There's just too much left out altogether.
