The dialogue sounds so unnatural. The very first conversation was already awkward, and the prose didn't really improve from there. These are characters who barely know one another yet they're quick to spill life stories and spout honeyed words of wisdom out of the blue. Just very clunky/corny and I couldn't ignore it any longer.

The story itself is mediocre but okay if you're in the mood for a light predictable mystery, but the writing is absolutely appalling

1st in the series; cozy mystery.  Enjoyed the bookish details and cast of characters.  Plot was a bit thin for my taste, however, there was enough here to continue the series.
