"She lived with no other thought than to love and be loved by me... But we loved with a love that was more than love - I and my Annabel Lee." -Edgar Allan Poe

As someone who is not particularly a love-y person, I bought this book to help me through the sadistic task of writing a love letter to my dearest of several years. It did not help me even a little, but I did enjoy reading the poems and letters in the selection, they were not too terribly sappy, but they got the point across.

The poem section includes the works of Robert Burns, Emily Dickinson, Edgar Allan Poe, William Shakespeare, and Alfred Lord Tennyson to name a few.

For a little historical treat, among the famous love letters exist those written by Henry VIII, Napoleon Bonaparte, Oscar Wilde, and Beethoven, which I particularly enjoyed.

It's a fast read, and the cover is lovely, even a hard-hearted toady like me can enjoy this collection, its definitely a worth-while read.

While some of the poems lost me with their ye olde language, I ploughed through and found some real beauties.
