2.5 stars. I never connected with the characters. The plot meandered in strange directions.

i am being sooooo generous with this two stars because i think it had potential and it was so fucking weird that it was sorta enjoyable but when it was boring… man was it boring. soooo much plot soooo many things happening only for things to not happen. i also didn’t find any of the characters likeable except for perry’s mom i love a good rich bitch who is mean for no reason.

when will i be free from the bad book curse????

It was a nice easy breeze read. Enjoyable!

This is the first Elinor Lipman book I have read, and it certainly won't be the last. I read it in one day. It's set in New York City and told in first-person by Jane, a lawyer in her late thirties who is confined to six months' house arrest for indecent exposure. I enjoy Jane's voice a lot, I like her relationship with her sister Jackleen, it's close and sisterlike without being idealized. I enjoyed Jane's foray into vintage cookbooks and recipes and her resulting TikTok adventures. I enjoyed the love story. Where's another Elinor Lipman book, please? This is the perfect read for the mood I'm in, it's fun but not vapid. I will read another by this author for sure.
