Thoroughly entertaining. LOL moments.
Kind of a mess of a book! Random and unnecessary subplots. Unsatisfactory resolution to the main plot. Unbelievable and rushed romantic connection.
not literature, but enjoyable
I had read that the author was a smart, entertaining writer, so this was the first book I read of hers. Very enjoyable entertainment. I’ll read others of hers.

I just did not have a good time. A review in the synopsis described the book as “sexy and fun.” If someone could point to a single example of either, I’d be much obliged. The main theme seems to be that laws do not apply to the rich and criminality does not impact their lives.
The characters are all snobby New York professionals - self-absorbed, elitist, and ENTITLED. I disliked absolutely everyone.
Instead of plot the reader experienced a chaotic stream of random happenings, with characters popping in and out. I couldn’t find an once of chemistry or romance.
Worst yet was how the author handled immigration. I paraphrase, “she called the cops on me and with out even being a citizen!” As if non-citizens do not have the right to police protection.
So many reviewers discuss loving this prolific author, but unfortunately this was my first read by Lipman, and I can’t imagine ever reading a second.
