I really didn’t know what to expect with this book. It’s my first Elinor Lipman book. If all her books are as funny and smart as this one I’m off to read the rest !

Part mystery. Part romance. Part comedy. It is a great weekend read. Super short chapters keep the story moving at a quick pace.

I feel like there was too much happening and not enough happening at the same time. I was expecting there to be a twist at the end, like revealing the killer as one of the characters you least expected. It just ended as a cliché happily ever after with no answers. It didn’t read like a romance because their feelings were pretty surface level the whole time. It wasn’t a mystery either because nothing was solved. Not the true killer or even how she was murdered ever got explained. Just a big guess as to what happened and then they all moved on?? Very confusing.

I feel very indifferent about this book. I didn’t love it, but I don’t feel like reading it was a total waste of my time.

I was really excited for this take on a forced proximity romance, but there really was very little romance at all. The characters are very cold and I really did not care much about them at all.

I would’ve liked to see more of a build to the romance part of the story, and I wish some of the non-romantic storylines would have been closed out.
