To be fair, I think some of my reason for rating this book as mid-tier is because it triggered my fight or flight response with the Bar sanctions. As a law student, being subjected to a Professional Responsibility class, that is my worst nightmare currently.
I'll start with my positive comments. This book had a lot of genuinely funny moments and the characters' personalities played into a lot of the humor. I liked the sibling dynamic because it embodied a lot of the sibling rivalry and love that is true to real life. Not to mention that the sisters were as alike as they were different. Additionally, I liked the subtlety of the romantic plot in many ways. The feelings were hinted at but never directly stated. If you want something fun, fast-paced, and easy to get through, this is a great book.
I do have several critiques, however. I found the main character somewhat irritating. I understood her frustration, but at times, she felt very self-centered. Some of the other characters seemed to have 360 personality changes within the last five chapters. Most importantly, I found like Ms. FitzRoy's subplot was abandoned. I understand that either way the elements probably wouldn't add up to murder 1, but I feel like her death was still somewhat of a mystery.
Overall, this book is a cute, unique love story, but I wanted more.

Kind of boring. Kept waiting for it to get better and it never did.
