Very interesting premise of how two people meet and fall in love. The main characters were easy to like, and I loved how there was a good component added to the story. Would definitely recommend for anyone who wants a lighthearted story.

Contrite. Lacking emotional depth. At least 3 noticeable typos.
This book was so boring and the MC is such an insufferable brat (she’s 39 btw). And her bf has the personality of wet cardboard.
It’s clear the author had no idea what kind of book she wanted to write (romance? thriller? murder mystery? who knows??? the author clearly doesn’t) so there’s 8 different subplots happening and none of them really go anywhere or are fun to read about. The main one - the romance - is so uninspired.
Just all around awful, one of the worst books I’ve read in a hot minute

The premise is hilarious- mandated house arrest due to public fornication- lol! I love the sex positive support the main character gets from her family and I think it painted a very real picture of the societal witch hunt of “bad women”. It takes a twist with the characters she brings into her life and I didn’t need the dramatic neighbor twist, I thought the community building was a compelling enough story on its own, but I get why people would like the added drama. A funny, easy read.
Elinor Lipman is BACK--this one is funny, wry, loving, and upbeat. What a delight! Hugely recommended!
This is a strange book for me.
I thought it was a mystery, but it's not really. Not in the "plucky detective solves her own case" kind of way. While there is a mysterious death that becomes important to the plot it's not integral and it's not part of the central storyline.
More important are the characters themselves.
Because I was looking at the book as a mystery at first, I was reading too much into some of the characters. "Is there a reason this person didn't know about the thing they discussed yesterday?" -No, he's just a tad forgetful.
There may be clues throughout that hint at a crazed killer that is obvious and that is clearly responsible, but I'm not a fine detail reader and it wasn't handed to me on a silver platter of "Here's who is 100% responsible" so if it's there I missed it. I have some ideas, but none of them actually make much sense, so it ultimately doesn't matter.
Because this is much more a rom com than a mystery thriller.
It's fun, there's nice characters, only a couple of the characters are making frustratingly bad decisions, but even then the narrator is pointing out how terrible those decisions are, so you're not alone in thinking they're making bad choices.

felt like there was a word limit and the author had exceeded it and had no choice but to cut it words out and it just was meh so underwhelming. there were so many directions this book could’ve gone (romance?? comedy?? mystery?? family drama??) and instead it was a bunch of unfinished thoughts and unimpressive writing. I felt so disappointed because the premise caught my attention right away (lawyer gets put on house arrest for indecent exposure after caught having sex on the roof of her apartment complex in NYC??) also, in the midst of all the half baked thoughts there was such a normalization of alcoholism?? did we need to have wine mentioned at every other page. the more I think about it, the more I’m surprised I finished this book… oops but I did finish it in 2 days so if you’re looking for an underwhelming quick read, I may recommend this one.
