The books of John Flanagan never get old! I got a bit confused about the age of Cassandra and Lydia in this book. I thought Madelyn and Lydia shared roughly the same age??? Anyways. This is maybe my favourite book of the Brotherband series so far
adventurous medium-paced

3½ stars.

Like the other books in this series I found myself really enjoying this one. This book was full of action and I found myself not wanting to put it down. I really enjoyed the new characters introduced in this book and I love the roles the old characters play too. I recommend for ages 10 and up.

Good simple read

Well written story, flows seamlessly throughout the continuing adventure. Doesn't require much thought on the readers part, merely a willingness to be entertained.

Another great book by John Flanagan; I really enjoyed the reintroductions of Selethen and Umar.

Still just as good as the first time I read this one! I still love following the adventures of Hal and the Herons, and it was awesome to have Gilan in this one, and to have cameos by other known characters, like Selethen and Umar!

Another great addition to the Brotherband Chronicles! As always, very exciting, with plenty of humor. I also enjoyed meeting some old friends again.
SpoilerAnd Ingvar's spectacles made me happy. I've been waiting for something like that to happen for a few books now.
Overall, my only real complaint is the author's tendency to remind me of things I already knew.
