It had some good moments but way too much God bothering overall. Still, it's of interest for its set of values - I can imagine Hughes's boys growing up to administer the empire at its height and also taking the lead in the adventure novels of late Victorian period.
This moved surprisingly quick, once you get past the first chapter. I still don't care about dudes at prep schools, but now I know the origin story of the genre at least.
