This was actually pretty chill. I liked the vibe of it and the way the story unfolded I’d say was quite effortless imo. I liked and empathized with Mickey and Lex and appreciated the things that made Mickey Mickey and how her childhood and teenage years affected her decisions as an adult. The micro aggressions that led her to her choices in her career and her reaction, going back home to find a sense of acceptance that she’d constantly been looking for.. Her complex relationship with Tee is something that had me cringing several times, but then again it made sense for her to go looking for love in places where she ultimately knew she could not get it, and run away from the love that was right there (despite the imperfections) with Lex.

Nah I can’t do characters who are so dysfunctional. I get it, I just don’t want to read it

This is fine, it’d be a more interesting read if you’re plugged into the beauty/ writing  but I am not so it was just meh. Mickey was a protagonist I often found frustrating which made it difficult for me to feel invested.
