I liked it. Very character focused which I am not the hugest fan of, but it was still fun. The ending was also neat in a way I didn't predict. For most of the book I was continuously going "how the fuck is this going to end anywhere near satisfyingly" and it ended up being a solid ending which is impressive. I did feel though that a lot of the character drama was unenjoyable to read to the point where I dropped this book for a bit after the first 100 pages. Still fun though and I like this trilogy as a whole. Its just a bit of a disappointment that the next two books were nowhere near as good as the first.
adventurous hopeful medium-paced

There were a ridiculous number of ends to wrap up, but it was all managed very nicely. I want to immediately reread the whole trilogy but I'm going to make myself wait and let it settle a minute.

I liked this better than the second (which was probably around a 4.25 for me), not as much as the first (easily 6 stars). This one probably landed around a 4.75 for me. I love this world and I really enjoyed seeing Breq have character development in some interesting directions. I also appreciated the ending - without getting too far into spoilers, it felt very true to the space opera genre and to the massive world Leckie built.

A big and small story simultaneously. None of the sequels grabbed me in quite the way the first book did, but still so good.

What a great series. Thoughtful, complex characters and an interesting universe. Appreciated Leckie’s attempt to move away from such a pat ending.
