Well. I did sort of know what I was getting into after book 1, but the whole love-spell-non-con-situation grossed me out even more in this book than in the previous one. And the main characters acted like assholes for such a long time that I struggled to see them as charming assholes. And it's a pity, because I enjoyed some of the writing, the premise had potential, and in the beginning, the very morally gray MC Arik was interesting. - Until it became too much for me. Just to be clear, this is very subjective, of course. Content warnings: rape (sex with someone affected by a love spell), mentions of previous experiences like neglect, abuse, violence and rape.

Really enjoyed this one, even more than the first.

I liked this one more, somehow!? Oh it was just pure wall to wall drama, lots of pain, and incredibly, Arik and Matthew spend so much time apart! They do not instantly solve things and turn ooc schmoopy at 75%! Also as much as I love Dor and Charlie I was delighted at how sparingly they were used here...though I would take a novel about how they got involved. Seriously. Arik and Matthew spend so much time learning to love and trust eachother. The epilogue was amazing.
