Definitely better than the first but some of the writing regarding power dynamics, especially when it comes to intimacy, were weird. But I found Matthew more likeable than Ian and Arik (is that his name? I already forget) was funny. Plot was a bit easier to follow in this one too. Not sure if I’ll continue this series but if I can’t find anything better I might.

2ish stars
I had the same problem with this book as I did with the first book in the series. Arik is unlikable from the get go. He alludes to trauma in his past, acts with only "#1" in mind and then gets hurt and offended when he isn't trusted or given the benefit of the doubt. I never really felt like I got to a place where I could cheer for him. Also the while the plot makes way more sense in this book I kinda felt it was the same as the first book. So mostly okay but better than the first book.
