These are the best books in this ‘verse.

“I was constantly amazed at how resilient mortals could be in the face of catastrophe. Even the most traumatised, shell-shocked humans could carry on as if things were completely normal. Meals were still prepared. Work was still done. Piano lessons were commenced and carrot sticks munched.”

This is the last chapter book I read to my children. That phase of my life is over. It lasted a quarter of a century. My youngest child is now too old. We started this book together but I ended up finishing it on my own. I think it is important to record this fact.

It’s a great book. Apollo is an entertaining narrator & Riordan is absolutely on form with the plot and all the side characters and quips. There are old characters from previous books, engaging new characters, a good range of diversity, a nod to yet another pantheon of gods as yet unmined, and an exciting set-up for the rest of this series.

ACHH... GROVER UNDERWOOD !!!

Loved this one as much as The Hidden Oracle! Not gonna go into the story itself as I don't want to give anything away, but it was great to be back with familiar faces and I still very much enjoy Apollo as a MC. Hope to get round to no #3 soon!

loving book, I feel like the Riordan formula is one of the few that I eat up every time, even if I already know how it's going to end.
I like that in these books they are less over-the-place and mostly stay at one location: previously the camp half-blood, and now Indianapolis. of course, as a non-American, I had no idea where they were. it really helped that they made it clear that each of the three emperors were covering the east, middle and west respectively, it was easier to imagine things that way 🫶🏼
I'm eager to start the next one !! nobody would make me hate u Apollo !!
