"It's not how long you live that matters. It's what you live for."

It's been a hot minute since I read this one, but that being said I remember that it's my least favourite of the series! I personally just didn't love Leo and Calypso in this one (I'm sorry!) at the time when I was reading this I just found it harder to get into at first. I do remember really liking after about the halfway point. I did really like the other side characters in it though (Emmie and Jo) and I think the family vibes in this were cute. Lester is just so funny in this as always, him and Meg were definitely my favourite parts of this one.

SPOILERS!!!!!

Two words: Grover Underwood.

But yeah, fantastic as always. Love the ending (GROVER IS BACK FROM THE DEAD FINALLY I'M CRYING), and of course, after devouring this book in a day, I have to wait a whole year to get my hands on the next one. :(((((

Love Apollo's character development. Love the new characters. Love the humor. (Also, can we just appreciate the shade: "As for mortal technology, it was useless to us. In our hands, phones malfunctioned and blew up (I mean, even more than they did for mortals)". That had me dying oh my goodness.

Only reason it's not five stars is because it follows the same pattern as all of Rick's other books (but then again, they're all great and I always come back for more, so maybe that's not a bad thing). Maybe a little something different would be nice. I also would have liked more Nico, Will, and other children of Apollo, but all of the new characters are wonderful as well. But who am I kidding? It's Rick Riordan and Apollo. You know it's going to be good.

4.5⭐

Apollo is the only narcissistic character that I like.

For now.

I didn't enjoy this book as much as the first one. Nevertheless, I still had so much fun since the jokes and Apollo's narcissism amused me.

But, couldn't rate this higher because some parts could be boring and so long. Also, I'm a little bit confused about the journey before the ending, it's kinda unnecessary in my opinion lol.

I hope I could like the next book more. I also hope Meg would be less annoying in the next one.

had to put that ish on 2x speed but i finished it with FOUR minutes to spare before it was returned😭

i found this one hard to listen to, i kept tuning it out accidentally—could Not give you a summary of any plot points—and even switched to an adult novel halfway through for a break. i’m not the target audience obviously and i accept that but at the same time i liked the first one? so what happened?

(low rating but take it with a grain of salt really i should be reviewing w/o a rating if i wanted to be perfectly fair)
