Like the first book in the Trials of Apollo, it was a ride. A bit slower than other Rick Riordan stories but still wonderful nonetheless.

I must say, going into this I did not have the highest expectations. I enjoyed the first book in this series, but it wasn't nearly as amazing as Rick Riordan's other books/series. And I must say this one wasn't either but I definitely enjoyed it more than the first. I really like how Apollo is developing as a character, he's becoming more human but its also taking him an appropriate amount of time to get there. I like how funny Apollo can be but i like the serious moments more and this book had wayyy more of those than in the first. Also there was less of Meg in this book, so maybe that's why I liked it. Anyway, the cameos were great and the plot was classic Rick Riordan so overall this was a fun read!

I. Can't. Stand. Meg.

This series just feels so rushed and not polished like Riordan's typical novels.

Apollo is as entertaining as he is annoying. This book had me chuckling more than once. I really liked the ending and Apollo's character arc. Looking forward to seeing where the next books go.

"We only fail when we stop trying."

I was having a good time reading Rick Riordan's Magnus Chase series and after i finished the Hammer of Thor I thought it best to read the Dark Prophecy before i continued on with the series, and I regret that decision.

For whatever reason I was having a really hard time getting through this book and I'm not able to pinpoint on why that was. Am I just growing out of middle grade books? I enjoyed the book as I was reading it but I had no drive to pick it up after I set it down which was a real issue. I had to push myself to just sit down one day and finish it. I thought it was good and I enjoyed the mythology, but I don't know if its just feeling a little repetitive to me.

I can say that I am so pumped for a certain character to be back (even though I know a lot of people didn't really like them that much) and to see how they shape the next book in the series and where it's going to go.

Back to Magnus Chase!
