This was definitely the smut I was expecting. I was not expecting such a cliffhanger. I was expecting this to be a why chose romance, which I'm guessing it will be based on the ending, but for now it is only three people and there is a lot of external plot that is left hanging.
That said, I enjoyed the heroine being a sea captain who's good with knifes and I expect that knife and blood play will come into later books.
THAT BEING SAID...this book was published in 2021 and there's no word of the rest of the trilogy, so....

The beginning immediately drew me in - I mean, a sea captain, a selkie, and a siren - the alliteration alone was enough for me to start reading. The sex scenes were heartfelt and played with BDSM in some really positive ways. However, I personally struggled with Lyric's role in the relationship. He is inexperienced, mute, and at Ronen and Miranda's mercy. It was not nonconsensual by any means, but definitely one of my personal red flags.

Usually RH has a bunch of toxic alpha-type people, but this was kinda adorbs and had some decently healthy relationships in it. This is more of a poly romance. It was adorable and I loved it.
