The pacing varies through the story based on the events and grows more tense throughout the trilogy. Secrets are revealed and questions answered as more questions arise. I’m glad I was able to read straight through without having to wait for the next book to be published. You hope for happiness for the main character but don’t always know who she should trust. A truly enjoyable read.

Much like The Hallow I feel like this book could have been much shorter. I felt it took a little to long to get to the "good stuff." I really like the characters and I really like the idea and the way the legend of Sleepy Hallow is worked into the story. I feel like all three books that I just like could have been combined into one book that I really loved. I will read the last one because I am dying to know what happens.

What can I say?
I loved the first books and I love this sequel more. It left me speechless with so many unanswered questions :s. Is Abbey going to live until November 1st? Are the other revenants going to save her and Caspian? What more damages can Vincent do? Is she going to die eventually? Ayayay... this book left me with no clue on what's going to happen next and I'm frightened by the path the storyline took.
A must read!

After the disappointment that The Hollow left me with, I was anxious to read the next in the series to see if it would be better. I am so glad I gave this author another chance!

Abbey returns to Sleepy Hollow after a breakdown caused by the death of her best friend Kristen and falling in love with a dead boy. She has been living with her Aunt and finally comes home after the completion of the Sleepy Hollow bridge to dedicate it in the memory of her friend. She is scared to return to the town that caused her such pain, but she puts a brave face on and decides it is time. Just when things start taking off with Ben and getting back into the perfume creations, Caspian returns to Abbey. She feels conflicted at first trying to figure out if she is going crazy again, or if Caspian truly is real in her world. Along the way, we get to see the love between Caspian and Abbey grow, old favorites return in Abbey's life and new discoveries about The Shade.

I am amazed at how much the author's writing has progressed from The Hollow. I admit, the beginning of this book moves slow like the first one, but as you get going in the story it really takes off. That is about the only negative thing about the book in my opinion. There is more suspense with a lot of the answers you were wanting from the previous book being answered. The author still left a great climax at the end of the story though that will leave you frustrated because you have to wait for the final book. Some things become clear in the plot, but other things are going to be left for the final book I assume. Personally, I can't wait for the final book now. I have crossed the Sleepy Hollow bridge and I don't want to turn back!

I'm so mad at myself for not already buying The Hidden, I need to know what happens next... I'm completely in love with this series... what a beautiful love story... I know that sounds odd huh, but I would love to have someone love me the way Caspian and Abbey love one another, dead or alive.... sigh <3

The Haunted picks up a little while after The Hollow ends. Abbey has been spending her summer at her Aunt's farm house where she has been getting psychological help from a doctor about her 'hallucinations'. Abbey is horrified to find out that she must return home early in order to give a speech at the opening of the new bridge that has been built in Kristen's memory. Abbey is terrified by the possibility of seeing Caspian again after she has spent weeks trying to convince herself that he does not exist.

When Abbey returns back home to Sleepy Hollow, she does indeed she Caspian once again. After a brief meeting outside her house, she lets herself decided that he is real and that this is not her imagination. Whilst learning to accept the fact that she is in love with a ghost, Abbey also has to be tutored in Chemistry by Ben due to her missing so much of school and has to work for her Uncle in his ice cream shop. With all of this going on, Abbey doesn't have much time to think about the mystery behind Kristen's secret boyfriend, D.

Abbey visits Caspian at the cemetery frequently and he starts to tell her more about his life as a ghost. When Abbey questions him about the fact that he was able to touch her once, Caspian tells her that he has discovered he can touch people on the date of his death, for 24 hours. Abbey makes Caspian accept the fact that she wants to be with him no matter what.

But of course, life isn't just that simple. When mysterious strangers with musical voices and freakish smells start appearing in Abbey's life, she discovers that there is more to her and Caspian's relationship and that she may be about to discover who was behind Kristen's death.

I loved The Haunted! I felt like the character personalities really shone through in this more than they did in The Hollow and Abbey really steps up as the Heroin. I really enjoyed Caspian's comical jealousy of Ben throughout the book and you really sense how desperately Abbey and Caspian want to be able to touch.

With a mega cliffhanger of an ending, I really can't wait to find out how it all ends in The Hidden (which is currently being shipped to my door courtesy of Amazon as we speak - hurray!).

Blah, what a let down of a sequel. I could barely finish it.

I found it boring and just contradictory at places. Is the ghost creepy or not Abbey? Make up your mind.

I loved this book. It was far better than the first one and all the questions that the first novel, The Hollow, were answered as soon as this book hit the shelves. Personally I had no idea that Jessica Verdey was even writing a second novel yet alone a third. I am so pleased with this. The characters are amazing Abbey is so well rounded and not to mention Caspian is wonderful (mysterious, sexy, alluring, gorgeous, sweet). I have to keep reminding myself that he is just fictional because the things he says to Abbey are so adorable at times I want to melt, also there are times when the romance just gets too much but it is always light and fun. In this book they really grow as individuals and as a couple and you really understand why Abbey can see him. Also, the reader gets a better understanding about Nikolas and katy and not to mention the one character who is responsible for the death of Abbey's best friend, Kristen. Also, the sexual tension is burning between Abbey and Caspian which really made the read go by fast because all I wanted them to touch just as muh as she did. It makes me sad knowing that this trilogy is just one book away from the end but I cannot wait to read more about what is to become of Abbey and Caspian because their love is so special. I hope this book is enjoyed by others just as much as I liked it.

SPOILER ALERT: If you have not read The Hollow this review may contain spoilers.

While I thought The Hollow could be improved upon, I felt The Haunted was fabulous just the way it was. Jessica Verday really stepped up her game with this one and I am now dying to know how the trilogy is going to end.

Abbey finally has some peace in her life. She is slowly coming to terms with Kristen's death and she is finally forgetting about Caspian. All that changes when she returns to Sleepy Hollow and she can't stop seeing Caspian. When she finally begins to accept that maybe he is a permanent part of her life things really get crazy. If they are meant to be together, why is one of them dead?

The story that started with The Hollow really took off in The Haunted. I can honestly say that I thought the story in this book was ten times better than that of the first. Caspian and Abbey both developed and so did Ben. I was also really excited to have some of my questions about Kristen answered.

The best thing about The Haunted though was the writing. I felt that the writing in The Hollow wasn't so great and I could really see a difference when I read The Haunted. It made it so much easier to read and I loved the book. I think Jessica Verday will have a great finish to this trilogy if it is anything like The Haunted.

Overall, The Haunted has earned an A from me. I am so glad I finally read it and if you have been skeptical because of the reviews, ignore them. Read the books and decide for yourself!
