Say what you will about the Macdonald triad and yada yada, but I firmly believe that disturbing scenes of animal cruelty are a definite sign of a writer’s impotence. The desire to give in and take the lazy path of piling up a shitton of basic "villain" stereotypes instead of creating a complex, multidimensional character may be understandable, but it’s hardly commendable. The leading lady, Detective Erika Foster, is less than satisfying as well. It’s exhausting to follow the adventures of a depressed punching bag, especially when all her professional brilliance isn’t shown but merely stated over and over by side characters.
It’s readable but uninspiring and full of clichés. I’m only rereading the series because of the new installment’s release, and I have absolutely no recollection of the previous books whatsoever.
Graphic: Animal cruelty, Animal death
It really bothered me that the back cover describes the victim as having her eyes open, and the front cover is a girl with her eye closed. It bothered me the whole book. There were also several editing errors in the copy I have. The story itself was very fun to read though. I enjoyed the book.
Loved it!
I couldn't stop reading it, it was absolutely great and parts where I couldn't read because I had errands to run I listened to the audio it was absolutely great and will continue to read the rest of the series... DCI Foster is an awesome character and I look forward to reading more.

5 stars
Huge thanks to Robert Bryndza, Bookouture and NetGalley for this copy in exchange for an honest review.
What a bloody good book this is!! Set in London and showing how the class system is still messing things up, in this case, the rape and murder of 5 women but because one of the murdered women was in the public eye, she's the only one who 'mattered'. At the start.
Murder, violence, craziness and twisty turnyness (that's not a word but I love it!) throughout, once I picked it up I couldn't put it down so read in one sitting.
Highly recommended!

This was definitely an intriguing mystery and I enjoyed being introduced to Detective Erika Foster as a complex main character, however something about the conclusion of the mystery just left me unsatisfied.
Not bad. Not a piece of art either, but it kept me entertained for a few hours.
I quite liked this book. It held me the whole way through to the very end. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.
