I liked Felix in the first book so this was fun to read! Brie is a great character. I think a little more character development would have been nice. But it was a good time just like the first one!

One again, Lemming blows me away with a riot of a story! Brie is just living her light, but one annoying man's advances end up with Brie throwing a drink and it hitting someone else. Turns out that someone is a werewolf and turns out that drink is a love potion. Whoops! While our werewolf, Felix, is certain that Brie's his fated mate, despite Brie's protests. Fortunately, the love potion should wear off in two weeks, but can Brie hold out that long? What will happen to this couple once the potion wears off?

This one is told in dual pov which I think is a great touch since we can see Brie's struggles and issues but also the werewolf Felix's mind. With him, we can see into his views on romance and why he's certain Brie is his mate but he also acknowledges the potion's affect on him. Seeing how both of them see this situation adds some wonderful tension.

It's also great to see how the world is changing after the events in the first novel, with demons now free from the evil witch's curse. It adds a lot of charm and comedy as we see the two species try to get along, though not without a few struggles here and there, some more serious than others. Makes me curious how this side of the worldbuidling will progress in the series!

This is a beautiful mix of romance, hilarity, and suspense. I absolutely adore this series and will definitely be reading the next one soon enough!

I picked this up for a funny and whimsical romance but ended up being put off by most of the romance scenes due to the love interest's possessive behaviour. In stead of a funny romance, this read to me as some kind of twisted Stockholm syndrome-ish relationship with a plot that twists towards the end so much that I can't wrap my head around it (
a cult kidnapping women to be used to awaken a dormant god-parasite???
).
The possessiveness doesn't get better
; if it did, I would give this book a higher rating.

The love interest is a werewolf who thinks the FMC is his fated mate, but he is also under the influence of a love potion, so there's guesswork whether his feelings are real or not. This possible double reason for insta-love makes him behave impulsively and wanting to claim the FMC as his.

I pulled her down, letting the desperation and possessiveness run free. [--] She didn't love me yet, I knew that, but damn it, she would.

Even if this book is ment to make fun of these kinds of tropes, I only see horrifying red flags in the werewolf's behaviour:
the werewolf goes to the court house and forces the workers there to sign him a marriage license to be married with the FMC without her being there or without her knowledge/consent, and at the same time he changes her surname to his. Then he moves into her house. And the smutty scenes... he's very possessive then as well.
🚩 Moreover, the smut gets very weird.
Tentacle weird.

🚩
The werewolf recognizes that he is possessive and even manipulative, but doesn't see that as a problem:
"I am [stalking the FMC]", I snapped, "No, wait, I'm not stalking, not anymore anyway, she wants me around now."

I should have checked the content warnings more thoroughly before picking this book up, even though I usually don't need to do that especially with books I expect to be lighthearted.

That Time I Got Drunk and Yeeted a Love Potion at a Werewolf is the second book in the Mead Mishaps series by Kimberly Lemming. It was just as cute as the first book, I really enjoyed it.

This book starts off with our main character, Brie (who is a cheesemaker), she's at a party with her best friend Cinnamon (the same Cinnamon who was the main character of book 1!) and they're getting drunk and having a nice time. Well, they were trying to have a nice time. There's a man who keeps asking Brie out on a date and he won't take no for an answer.

After Brie and this asshole argue back and forth for a bit, the man apologizes and tries to offer her a drink. Brie doesn't want to take it, but the pushy man insists! So, Brie grabs the drink and tries to throw it at him, but he dodges the drink and it hits and unsuspected person BEHIND HIM! This wouldn't be such a big deal if it were just a drink, but it turns out that it's a love potion. The person struck with the love potions name is Felix, he turns around and the first person he sees is Brie and he instantly falls in love.

After that, a hilarious and sweet story happens and it's just so good. I really recommend this series for anyone who likes romance, spice/erotica, and sweet scenes.

I would give this 5 stars but there was one thing I didn't like so I'm knocking off .5 stars. While Felix and Brie are visiting Cinnamon and Fallon, Felix is telling them that
he and Brie are officially married, and that they were discussing how many kids they might want to have
. Brie is embarrassed that Felix won't stop talking about this so she attempts to hit him, repeatedly. She does not hit him, but the fact that she attempted to really pissed me off. Hitting people isn't acceptable unless you're protecting yourself or your loved ones. I'm honestly tried of seeing the trope of "women hitting their partners" or "women hitting men". It's not okay and writing that little bit in just reinforces this idea that hitting your partner/a person for any old reason is okay.

The spice in this was nice, I'm giving this 4 chilies out out 5 chilies 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️worth of spice.

Overall this novella was cute, I'm giving this 4.5 stars out of 5

Fun, but it was missing the narrative thrust of the previous book. I kept forgetting about the big conflict when there wasn't focus on it because it was treated more like a subplot.

This was such a fun and sexy read! I really like this series and plan to read any more that the author comes out with. There are some really sexy tropes in here...let's just say we totally take advantage of the fact that the male love interest is a werewolf!
