I’ve grown out of this series, and it certainly has flaws in retrospect, but rereading was a trip down memory lane. Surprisingly dark for a children’s book!
Graphic: Torture, Gaslighting, and Child abuse
Moderate: Violence, Animal death, and Animal cruelty
Minor: Cannibalism

The characters are all animals, but they think and feel on a level equivalent to humans, so "animal death" doesn't have quite the same feel as one might expect from the warning.chaoticreadingclub's review against another edition

GOSH I loved this series as a kid!! Amazing children’s literature, with complex yet easily understood morals, lovable characters, and a nice plot. Descriptions of day being sleepy and night being invigorating may leave you wanting to become an owl yourself. Highly recommend!
Moderate: Cannibalism
Minor: Violence
