~I received a copy from netgalley~
This was a super cool manga! I had read the Dawn of Arcana books a good while ago so it's a bit hard to connect those books to this to me as I can't remember too much, but I feel like if I had re-read the books I would have appreciated this one a lot more in how it relates to the other series. I think it is a pretty cool start to the series and I'm sure the other books in the series will be super cool as well!

Engaging start to the series. The art is lovely and I am very intrigued to see where things go. That said, most of this volume was setting things up and introducing the major players. Can’t wait to see what happens next.

This was a fantastic read that I picked up at the library, because I thought the art was pretty and it turns out the plot is as interesting as the art is lovely.

It's sort of a murder mystery, with a budding enemies-to friends-to lovers relationship growing but as of volume one the prince doesn't know that his beast servant is a girl and is under the impression she's a man and so that leads us to "Is he going to have a bi panic?" Which is what I'm always excited for, or just to see how that relationship builds.

Rangetsu is on a mission — to avenge her twin brother’s death.

Born as ajin, who are beasts treated as second-class citizens, Rangetsu and her twin brother Sogetsu did not have much to look forward to. But when Sogetsu discovers he dad magical inclinations, he finds himself being selected as a beast-servant for the fourth prince, Prince Tenyou. Unfortunately, what seems like a great opportunity becomes a tragedy when he is murdered. The death is attributed to the Prince and cast off as nothing more than a servant’s death. This is not acceptable to Rangetsu who decides she is going to forsake being a woman and become a beast servant — become Prince Tenyou’s beast servant — and discover what happened to her brother.

This is shaping up to be a romantic thriller with plenty of political intrigue and mystery. Definitely recommend~
