rating and reviewing this feels weird and wrong. i never had to read this for school but it really should be required reading. it’s short but so much is packed into it, and the writing is truly breathtaking. so many quotes that resonate as much today as they did in 1845.

Update: I reread this one again. A decade has passed since I last read it. It’s interesting to see which parts stood out to me this time as opposed to last time. It’s an insightful and poignant read. A classic for a reason.
