Some good ideas to help get through each day by applying different types of focus at certain times. I love the fact Chris considers drinking as an opportunity to “scatter focus.” I’m totally using that as an excuse to have a beer or 3 in the future.

Drink beer to come up with ideas, drink coffee to get them done.

Read this for work book club and it really reinforced my hatred of self help as a genre. No, I don’t want to analyse the books I read or the shows I watch to make sure everything in my life is “useful”. Productivity porn is not my jam.

I benefited a lot from some concepts introduced to me in this book, but the vast majority of it’s content is reiterative.

I like his reading style and I like his attitude (check out his Podcast, it's interesting and funny and you get to know his fiancé).

Back to the book:
It's basically divided in two parts. The first is about Hyperfocus (hence the title) and the second part is about scatterfocus (the counterpart if you will). I didn't find too many new things in the first part but it was absolutely worth reading the second part (and experimenting with his ideas).

Too idealistic and impractical.

Some good tips and tricks on how to focus when you work on a productive task and also about the importance of scaterfocus and self-awareness.
Nice read before the New Year too, when you have all the resolutions and it's easier to start new things which are suggested. For me personally, especially managing distractions like social media, etc.

Certainly not life changing, but still useful. It's written in a nice, casual way that makes it a quick read. I'd recommend it to people who life self-help books, but I think that Bailey's other work is better. It tends to repeat some of the same concepts, though it does go into detail, which I appreciate.
