This book was good, I really enjoyed this take on Dracula. I loved the enemies to lovers and falling for the villain trope. Throughout the book the mc is challenged in what she can accept morally and is challenged by Dracula. They see parts of themselves in each other and see one another in a way others can’t. It was fun to see how their connection grew throughout the book. I’m curious to see how much of Dracula’s true self Maxine is willing to truly accept in the next book. Dracula and Maxine had good banter and had insightful opinions that made you think. I also think Maxines empath abilities are fascinating and unique, I haven’t read a book with that type of empathic ability before. I enjoyed this book and will have to read the next.

I'm just...
I'm just a little done with insta-lust and insta-love and 23yrs old falling for 1000yrs old vampire. It's a style, I'm just not one to appreciate it enough to do it justice.

Heart of Dracula has everything I love in one book, specifically, I love a period gothic romance. I'm convinced nothing beats it. Throw in some vampires, a new take on an old tale and quirky side characters and I am all in.
I loved the slow burn of Dracula and Maxine's relationship and the author makes no attempt to apologise for Dracula being an immortal killer (thank God). The setting, tone and characters make a gripping read which is a must for any vampire lovers!
