I read this few years ago for school and it was nice even if i didn't like reading back then

I feel like I was supposed to like this book more than I did. Maybe I'm too late in reading it and it would have impressed me more at a younger age...
It is a sweet story, though, about life and death and how to look at things from an optimistic perspective. I liked the realistic tone of the story - the Lady in Pink represents an anchor to reality where the other people surrounding Oscar are hiding the truth from him, considering him too young to understand. Yet she finds a way of explaining life and death in simple but clear words, encouraging Oscar to live each day intensely.
Each of the twelve days is seen as a decade and Oscar interprets everything that happens through the eyes of a certain age - he falls in love in his "teens", gets married in this 30s, had a mid-life crisis in his 40s and so on, until he finally feels tired of life at "110".
I'm not religious and all the God talk left me unimpressed, but it's still a lovely story with subtle humour and a few life lessons that can benefit people of all ages.
