And I think maybe the better title for this book is The Bachelor Vampire

Who am I kidding? Of course not *hmpfh*

The story in this book is about Ian David MacPhie, the Scottish swordsman, one of MacKay S&I. He turned by Angus MacKay, hero of [bc:Be Still My Vampire Heart|225669|Be Still My Vampire Heart (Love at Stake, #3)|Kerrelyn Sparks|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1298472641s/225669.jpg|218574], when he is 15, so he trapped in eternity with a young boy appearance. Its make his problem complicated, because, people always look him a boy, not a man. Even though his age is 400 years old. So, in [bc:The Undead Next Door|1293450|The Undead Next Door (Love at Stake, #4)|Kerrelyn Sparks|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1322237706s/1293450.jpg|1282555], when Ian help to guard Jean-Luc and Heather in their home in Texas, he took Roman's drug Stay Awake. Stay Awake, make a vampire can still awake in daylight (they always dead when daylight come), and the side effect is make their aging. One pill one year. Ian took 12 pills, so his appearance now is when he is 27 years old, in the beginning in this book...

Ian want to meet his true love. So he ask Vanda Barkowski, one of ex harem of Roman, to help him find his true love. Vanda make his profile in the dating online site, and Ian make sure that he want his true love is a Vamps or good vampire. Ian back to Romatech, and meet the new guard. At the first, he think the guard is a man. He surprised when he know that the new guard is a woman. Her name is Toni Davis. She work at MacKay S&I for 2 weeks. Little people know, that Toni has her own agenda. Someday before, her friend Sabrina got attacked by vampires. And to prove that her friend not delusional, she try to prove vampire is exist. She go to Central Park, but got attacked. Fortunately, she found by Connor Buchanan, and instead erase her memories, he hired her to be a new guard..

Toni and Ian got irritated with each other, when they first meet. Worse when Toni become his personal guard. And when she guard him in daylight, she got many messages from women that want to be Ian's mate. She almost gagged when she watch Ian's profile in the site. But, she know later she is attracted to him too. There are problem for that. There's rules, that guard never get involved with her/his client. And after Ian got failed with finding his true love, he think maybe he has found his true love after all. And that lucky woman is Toni...

Of course its not that easy. Toni still want to prove that vampire is exist. And it will be dangerous for vampire existence if their identity was revealed. There are a new threat from the Malcontent, the bad guy, with their leader, Casimir, is back to the field. Can Ian make Toni believe, that not all vampire is bad. And is Toni really Ian's true love??

I enjoyed this book, maybe because Toni is know that Ian is vampire, from the beginning. The event when Ian search his true love is funny and hilarious. But we know, that even though Ian's outer appearance is growing, sometimes he's not confident when he meet women, still feel that he is a young boy, not grow man. Toni herself have some nightmare, and a past that she can't forget. She feel that she is not worthy to be loved. Ian prove her wrong, because everybody worth to be loved.

Something that make me a little bit annoyed, is a sexual tension in this book (and the previous books too). Dunno, Miss Sparks is like torture us with the sexual scene in her books. While the sexual tension is make us hold a breath to guess what next, the real sexual scene, is kinda "meh" and the timing is sucks :(...

Like I said before, this series is getting better and better, and Miss Sparks's writing is more mature. Next is Giacomo di Venezia, a.k.a Jack in [bc:Secret Life of a Vampire|4311773|Secret Life of a Vampire (Love at Stake, #6)|Kerrelyn Sparks|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1322237614s/4311773.jpg|4359529]

Ok, ok, I know! My husband brought this home for me as a joke because I've been watching True Blood and enjoyed the Twilight series. He thought he'd make fun of me with this -- the title just doesn't get any sillier. Well, I read the first four pages -- egads -- a hot Scot vampire in a kilt who is a virgin and just now looking for his one true love. I know, I know -- it's just an idealized romance. But, that said, it was a compelling story. I just kept reading. And now, I have to confess to Goodreads and put this on my "read" shelf because, don't cha know, I read all the way to the end.

I enjoyed this book. It is the story of Ian and Toni who have an instant attraction which they have to resist. It is a good story with lots of humour as Ian tries to find true love online. Which goes well as he finds himself very popular to the living and dead. However he also finds himself the target as he draws attention to how he has aged. It is a good story that had me laughing out loud, can't wait to continue in the series. X

4.5 stars.

Ian McPhie wants to be lovedand cherished for who and what he is. He wants an honest and steadfast lady. But he hasn't had success so his friend Vanda sets up a profile on a vampire dating site and suddenly hes flooded with prospects. Too bad all he can think about is his daytime bodyguard Toni, who is missing an important criteria --she isnt a vampire and she loathes vampires.
Too bad because they both want love so desperately!

What a great read. I read book 1 a couple of years ago and I wasn't impressed. I think I was too hasty in writing the series off. I will go back and read book 2 because I enjoyed the writing in this book. I just hate reading out of order. I loved this journey towards love
and acceptance
