3.5 stars. For the most part, I really enjoyed this book. Horrifyingly, it made me ravenously hungry :/ and I'm literally vegetarian :/ and also not a cannibal :/. But anyway, how could I not love a book about a woman who murders her lovers and eats them? The narrator was suuuper white gentile-y and uppercrest in a way that was funny but also made her grating. I understand the character choice of having her call someone a "Jewess", but what I really, really have mixed feelings about is the way she described the Black Jewish police officer, constantly referring to how muscular she is. With the trends in writing of describing Black and to a lesser extent Jewish women as masculine, I don't know how I feel about those particular pieces of description in this book. Another problem I had was the superstrong female friendship. It was shoehorned in, it felt like, and given barely any page time. I didn't really understand why Emma and Dorothy were friends at all. And the letter at the end was soo reductive. But also, feral women!! I love feral women! And (fictional) murderous women! So idk. 3.5 stars, like I said.
