I typically love books where women are unhinged, and as a psychology student I can relate to the students in the book and agree that if Dorthy was a real case I would be interesting to try and “study her”.
However the way the book was written just made it hard for me to enjoy it and immerse myself into it. It had a pompous writing style, describing things in a way more complex way than needed. I also did not like the timeline, it was very winding in circles, beating around the bush style. The time jumps were not labeled so it was hard for me to keep track where we were in the story.
That is to say it is definitely a story about an intelligent, interesting and conniving woman. If you can look past those faults then this is a great book!

One of the most interesting books I’ve ever read. Pretentious but not off-puttingly so— more of that the narrator was semi pretentious and not the book itself. Gore is written less in a murderous way and more in a food preparation way, if that makes sense?

This was a really interesting read, and I did really enjoy the visceral, descriptive writing style. The main character is fascinating, and is both relatable in some aspects and utterly horrifying in others. Good read, both entertaining and darkly philosophical at times. Definitely not for everyone, but I enjoyed it a lot!

The writing style made the first few chapters hard to get through, but I think it was a deliberate choice to add character to the narration. After awhile it becomes more bearable but it persists throughout the book. I found the main character unlikable and frustrating.

Disgusting honestly. And I absolutely loved it. Was in a reading rut and instantly brought out of it when I started this book. However, I also love reading about food and terrible women.
