Wow! This is a frightening apocalypse! The father and son are on the Road trying to get to somewhere that is safe and warm. There is little hope except for the son and his continued existence. This story is vague in its ending, but I think its open ending gives me a chance to hope for this civilization.

Did I just find my new favourite book? I might have..
I love the movie so much and the book is just as good!
The book is slowpaced and can be really boring at times, but that's how the lives of the man and the boy is. The relationship between those two is complicated but also so wholesome.

I'm not really sure what it is that's keeping me from giving this book five stars.

In terms of keeping me on edge, it surpasses anything else I've ever read. The horrifying moments would permeate my thoughts in the day and have me listening for any sound at night.

The story and events were not too fantastical, given that in this post-apocalyptic setting the author could have written what he pleased. This added to the sense that you were reading a premonition of your own future.

But I just didn't love it.

It's purposely cold. I get that. But even the warm moments felt insignificant. Maybe that's the point too.

So yeah 4 stars.

Still an absolute benchmark of the genre. I'll probably always return to this every few years.
