Finally got time to read book number one in this series. It's a great main character, I like the way he is so humble and peace loving. But boy can he shoot. If you like westerns this could be something for you. I had fun reading it.

I won this book as a Goodreads giveaway.

This is the second book by William Johnstone that I've won here on Goodreads, and while I'm not a regular reader of Westerns, I was expecting a whole lot more out of this book then I got. I found that most of the book was just the same scenarios repeating over and over again. Perley finding someone, returning/delivering her to someplace, then moving on only to have the same thing happen all over again someplace else. The book just sort of plodded along with no real direction most of the time. And on top of that the ending was about as anticlimactic as it could have been considering the time and effort Perley spend trying to find his grandfather.

On top of all this, all the head-hopping got really trying to read; it was actually worse than a romance novel for not sticking to one characters thoughts from one sentence to the next.
