When the body of the grocery store owner’s fiancée is found dead behind the cereal display, assistant manager, Ted, finds himself drawn into the investigation of the murder. This little mystery introduces the reader to a colorful cast of characters. Could the murderer have committed the crime in a jealous rage? Or perhaps the killer was a family member who did not want the chance of his or her inheritance falling into the hands of a young bimbo. Could there be another, unknown motive all together? Ms. Beck wrote a lighthearted mystery that is short enough to read in one sitting and appealing enough to make the reader not want to put it down. I was not too taken by the main character although he was pleasant enough. At times, I found him to be uptight and not very sympathetic. I was much more drawn to his potential love interest, Louise, the granddaughter of the grocery store owner. She was a strong and assertive character.
