This book has been on my TBR pile for a long time and I wish I had gotten to sooner because this was one heck of a ride. I was worried because it starts out with an extremely depressed character contemplating suicide. Donโ€™t worry she doesnโ€™t and she pulls up her big girl pants and does what it takes to get back to the warm and loving woman she is. I was not thrilled with the avenue she took to get there but you do what you gotta do. This book made me laugh, cry and think about what I would do to survive. I am really looking forward to the next installment.

Cat Lady Book One.

Angela is on the verge of committing a mortal sin when the opportunity to commit a different kind of sin arises. Presented with the opportunity to use her father's hidden stash of guns to help people and make money doing it, she jumps at the chance. Along with her neighbor's sons, her cats and a group of her mother's friends known as the Silver Hair Gang, Angela sets out to follow in her father's footsteps. However, her own past might be combining with her new venture to cause all kinds of trouble.

If you're looking for a fun story with strong characters who allow themselves to show vulnerabilities, this is the book for you!

Audio Review:
Ja'air Bush brings Angela and the gang to life! She gives enough emotion and nuance to distinguish characters, without over-performing.
*The only thing I had trouble with was the long silences at the end of each track on Spotify. Each track had between 30 seconds and 3 minutes of silence at the end. As this is the first time I've used the platform, the spaces might not be on the other versions of this audio.

What a fantastically over-the-wall and insanely funny read. I absolutely love this author and the fact that she writes cross-genre is a HUGE plus for me. I wasn't kidding before when I said I will read whatever she writes.

The Cat Lady Special is hilarious! There was absolutely nothing I didn't love about this one. You have a 45yr old woman who is down on her luck.  One day she finds a secret her father was keeping and BAM ... she's back in business.

Throw in her feisty mom and her friends (the Silver Hair Gang ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚), two almost feral and protective cats, a couple of teenage boys, a small town with little-to-no secrets and you get a mix of The Golden Girls and War Dogs. Oh man .. was this exactly what I needed right now. I cannot WAIT for the next installment.
