Ao Haru Ride, Vol. 8 by Io Sakisaka

This is definitely the weakest volume so far for the following reasons:

1. TONS of reinforcing unhealthy stereotypes, such as Futaba's methods of becoming more "feminine", calling someone a girl for fainting, etc.

2. Discussions of mental health that, while objectively aren't terrible, can lead to misunderstandings regarding the grieving process and depressive moods. Again, not terrible, but problematic to those unfamiliar with grief and depressive moods/depression.

3. Trivializing one's suffering. NEVER DO THIS. Pain is not a competition, everyone's suffering is valid.

This is still a good series and I did enjoy parts of it, but there were too many things I had problems with that they killed some of the enjoyment.

At the end of the day, I am rooting for Futaba. She deserves the best. She's a good friend to all those around her.
I do feel bad for Kou, but he I hope he stops taking his frustrations and confusion out on Futaba. Aya is a good friend too, and I am so happy that he's Kou's friend to give him unbiased advice. He may know Futaba better, but I think if he thought Kou was with  Narumi because he actually liked her, he wouldn't say anything.
I can tell the next couple of volumes are going to be tense.

4/5 stars for Vol 8, I think it handled the grief elements so well and it's as funny as the other volumes.

The extra one star is for the one shot manga at the end, so beautiful :')
