I usually love Meg Cabot but this one just didn't do it for me. The premise was not believable and the characters were more than a little annoying.

Not a real surprising book--you know by the book jacket and the description of how Girl Character hates Boy Character but winds up stranded with him that they will, of course, do it. But it's a fun journey, this one dealing with a Hollywood star and a screenwriter trapped in the Alaskan wilderness by a helicopter crash. If you like survival stories this won't give you much, since you never really have a sense of urgent danger for the characters. However, if you like a romance with some mystery, some humor, and some sex, this book would do nicely.

Published 2002 so it's from the very early days of the Meg Cabot oeuvre, so early she's "Meggin" on the cover. I will only make allowances so far, though: this is GARBAGE. A wreck. Where was the editor? I can't believe how late I stayed up the other night reading this. Finished it on my phone sitting outside the library, yelled loudly to the empty truck what a wreck it was.

The last of my beach reads from my Bahamas vacation, and I liked this one too. It was neither ground-breaking, heart-breaking nor astonishing in any way. Nor was any part of the plot surprising (well, ok, I wasn't quite sure how Vicky Lord made the conclusion that she did toward the end (no peeking!), but I'll give Cabot a pass on that, as the rest of the story was fun). For me, Cabot's books are like popcorn - very little in the way of nutritional value, but tasty and hard to stop at just one or two handfuls. I always go back.

Dated and outlandish (not in the good way)

Not as good as the Boy series. Just kinda bland. Easy to read though.

I finally found the book that I was too embarrassed to log in 2019 when I randomly found this absurd romance novel laying around and devoured it. The only things I could remember were that it was set in Alaska, they go to the Chris McCandless bus (or just talk about it?), and the title was absolutely cringe. I found it!

This book was enjoyable. The action both "on screen" and off was decent. And, as always, Meg Cabot is an excellent writer and I like her literary style.
