I enjoy the tv series quite a lot. But reading this post-viewing is somewhat disappointing - I was expecting more depth and breadth and instead discovered that at least in this first volume the tv series adapted nearly every incident and there isn't a lot more there. Also standing on its own without the promise of the rest of the saga, this book is SUPER light.

I started reading it because someone recommended watching the tv show. The show was slow and the book was worse. I only made it about 10 chapters before giving up.

I liked it, but don't think I'll read the entire series of 12 books! However, I've become addicted to the Masterpiece Theater series (BBC/PBS) based on these books and am hoping there's a Season 4 in store.

I've been recording the Poldark series that is showing on Masterpiece Theatre. Now I can finally start watching it!

Took some time to get into it, in part because I feel BBC did such a great job with the cinematic adaptation. There is something to these characters, which makes them somewhat relatable- yet they are still in the initial stages of unveiling and development. Can hardly wait to continue.

Better than the TV adaptation. Right away you get to see the main characters develop. you get a feel of Cornwall and its challenges and before you know, you are part of the village like a good neighbor who sees everything but says nothing.

Don't judge. I enjoyed the TV series and was hoping for more detail, but this book is written like a screenplay and there is not much more to it. Still, I enjoyed reading it and will continue with the series.
