Oh Triangle, what mischief and hilarity you bring!!

Interesting, and, as always, unexpected. I continue to admire Jon Klassen's dark-toned artwork (graphite, watercolor, digital) and ability to tell visual stories with just eye movements (in this case, for several pages with nothing but eyes!).

"You know," she said, "that shape in the dark might not have been bad. It might have been a good shape. We just could not see it."

Beautifully illustrated fable about some shapes who are friends, and one other shape.
Works great on 5-year olds.

Agghhhhhh, what a cop-out ending!

Sure, some kids will imagine a bear shape or an octagon, but the rest of us just want to know WHAT WAS IT???

I really want to like these books but they just confuse me. I keep feeling like there is a metaphor that I'm not understanding, a point that should be giving me an "aha!" moment, but there is nothing like that happening in my brain. I don't know if this is because of me or because of the bestselling author...

Circle is a creative and unique take on teaching about overcoming your fears. It is definitely not for everyone but our kids found it to be super appealing and they enjoyed that they could come up with their own ending since it was left open to interpretation.

It was also a great conversation starter about how we shouldn't always jump to conclusions about what we think about someone before we get to know them. Thank you to NetGalley and Candlewick Press for a copy of this book...all opinions are my own.
