The Guardians of the Galaxy are back (which shouldn’t be a surprise) and they’re working together with other parts of the Marvel universe in ways I haven’t seen yet. This was a fun volume, with lots being set up for later plots (or series). Do yourself a favor though, read this before you start reading the Infinity Countdown issues that are out there. I made that mistake and ended up reading a couple of things out of order. Nothing major, but I would have preferred to have the additional context given a choice.

All-New Guardians of the Galaxy volume three is quite the multitasker. It’s setting us up for the Infinity Countdown (a fact that’ll become more clear as you read the volume, I promise), and it’s also doing something new with the series. Cameos from Richard Rider and Antman (Scott Lang) add a couple of fun twists to the series. The Raptors and Nova Corps also have larger parts than normal to play in this volume.
When I stop and think about this volume, I realize it was actually quite busy. First there’s the Nova Corps plot, which has Rocket of all people in charge of sorting out who’s good and who isn’t inside the new Nova Corps (quite the task, if I may say so). Then there’s the Antman plot, which has a harsh reminder that Ulton didn’t just hurt those on earth. Star-Lord and Richard Rider stumble upon something pretty huge (which is totally setting up for another series), Gamora is getting fed up with Antman (no surprise, I love Scott but I can see how Gamora wouldn’t…). There’s something seriously messed up happening with Groot, which they’ve only just begun to show us the depth of. Drax also has his own plot, though it’s minor in comparison.
Did I mention the cameo from Cosmo? He’s just as adorable as I remember him (I may be overly fond of him and his Russian accent). So clearly this volume wasn’t all bad. While it’s a bit all over the place, I actually think its setting up for multiple new plots and series. Rocket trying to clean out the Nova Corps gives me hope that we’ll need a new Nova series (or even Nova Corps series), which would be all sorts of awesome. I’m still hoping the Raptors appearing means they’ll get their own series, and if we’re really really lucky that might mean a Darkhawk reboot (please please please!). Plus there’s no doubt in my mind that they’re setting up for the Infinity Countdown (like I said, I read something out of order here, so I have this confirmed…which is a bit of a shame for me). Oh and I almost forgot Groot! There’s something major happening with his plot too; I’m betting that’ll get tied into the larger universe as well (it certainly seems to be affecting a whole lot of people).
So, lots of groundwork, but that means relatively little plot given to just the Guardians of the Galaxy. Which is a fair trade, if you ask me. I just hope at some point they get back to their roots. I love this team, and I wouldn’t mind it if they made Antman a more permanent member of the group (mostly because he ticks off Gamora).
It’ll be interesting to see what happens next, and just how much of the Guardians plot ends up getting wrapped up in larger Marvel Universe plots. Hopefully I can successfully follow all of the trails they leave.

İlk fasiküllerde pek odaklanamadım bu yüzden 4 yıldız verdim fakat son 3 fasikül gayet güzeldi. Guardians of the Galaxy’nin o “gevşek” diyaloglarını burada da görmek mümkün.
