The first time that I seriously considered Chris Claremont's work was when I read "Wolverine, Vol. 1," which was supposed to be the original source for that awful Wolverine movie. Now, after having read "Whom Gods Destroy," I can say that he really is creative and innovative.

Set in an alternate reality where the Germans, after WWII, remained as the Third Reich, Superman (who now leaves Metropolis due to a gruesome incident), together with Lois Lane and Lana Lang, must exert all the effort (and all the help that they need) to save the whole of human race. And who are they up against? The gods of the Pantheon who wanted to return to the old ways.

This 4-issue series, brought by Elseworlds and DC, has a lot of interesting what-ifs made real. Lois Lane as Wonder Woman? Check. The Oracle of Delphi? Check. A more humane Bruce Wayne? Check.

But also don't forget that this brings out Gaiman-ish vibes, a la American Gods. Also contains a lot of elements that would make us think about our mortality, our desires, and the search for peace.
