I picked this up on a whim from a Walmart after getting stuck in the mountains and I was so pleasantly surprised by this. I think some dialogue from characters feels less than natural but aside from that I was impressed by how well-rounded each character was. This story felt cohesive and less completely focused on the romance, which I actually liked- it felt like the point of the book was for the heroine to grow, and the romance + friendships + job changes all fit into that.
The #1 reason I liked this book- once we went back in time I was really nervous the character was going to fuck everything up, “learn her lesson,” and then get to go back and undo the second chance and ~realize things were the way they were supposed to be the first time around~. But that doesn’t happen, and she’s stuck living w her choices, and I am so glad the author went that route.
I’ve been avoiding romance recently bc everything feels like booktok, AI-generated nonsense, but this one gave me hope for the genre and I’m glad I picked it up!!
