This book had a little bit of everything. I’m a huge fan of Sarah Ready’s books, specifically the Ghosted series, and this book gave me the same feels as Sarah’s books. I loved it from start to finish!

✨The characters were so relatable in so many ways. The struggle women have in every day life (both internally and externally), specifically in certain workplaces was depicted very well in this book. I loved the journey between Sadie and Jacob and that we got to see their relationship in so many different ways.

The Second Chance Year by Melissa Wiesner is a heartfelt and uplifting story that beautifully explores themes of redemption, resilience, and the power of second chances. Sadie's journey of self-discovery feels authentic and relatable. Wiesner’s writing is engaging, with vivid descriptions that bring the settings to life and emotional moments that resonate deeply.

The pacing is steady, the story’s emotional depth and the inspiring message make this a worthwhile read. If you’re looking for a book that will make you reflect on life’s possibilities and leave you feeling hopeful, this is a fantastic choice!

I really wanted to like this more than I did, because the concept was interesting, but Sadie was just so annoying and WAY too repetitive. Her family issues were over the top and brought up in what felt like every chapter.

If you could get one wish, what would it be? Would you use it to travel to your past so you could change somethings that happened?

Sadie loses her job and her apartment. Her boyfriend also breaks up while she’s constantly struggling to get noticed by her parents who have eyes only for her younger brother who’s thriving in his career. Sadie’s dream is to open a bakery of her own which seems like a dream to her. Her friend Kasumi brings her joy and her brother’s best friend, Jacob helps her out by letting her stay at his place. Kasumi persuades Sadie to come to a party with her and little did Sadie know that this will change her life, maybe forever! She meets a fortune teller in the party with a

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to listen to an early copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. The Second Chance Year by Melissa Wiesner will be released on December 5th, 2023.

Have you ever had a really bad year and wished that you could have a do-over? That is exactly how Sadie felt after her Very Bad Year, and it is what she got. A re-do - her boyfriend back and her job back - but is changing the past ever a GOOD idea?

I can't even explain how much I love the 'let's change the past' trope. I will pick up any book that has a plot related to that theme, even more so if romance is involved. So when I saw this book available to request, I jumped on it and was so excited to see that I was approved and OH BOY did this book not let me down.

I loved following Sadie on her journey to self-discovery, as she realized that her life was going in the direction that it needed to go during her Very Bad Year. Also - I hate self-entitled, gross men but I love when they get exactly what they deserve. Just saying.

The narration of the book was amazing too. I loved the way that she did the voices and gave emotion to each character.

A very cute ending to the book and I feel like every character got what they deserved

Sadie is Having to worst year of her life. She was dumped by her long term boyfriend Alex, fired from her job as a pastry chef, and lost her amazing apartment and had to move in with her brother’s BFF Jacob.

When she attends a Carnival themed new years eve party with her friend, she visits a fortune teller and asks for a do-over year. When she gets home, Jacob kisses her at midnight and she feels like this is something she has been missing. When she wakes up the next day it's January 1st, only from the previous year. Her do-over year wish was granted but as she starts to relive the past year, and make different choices, she's not so sure the consequences are the outcomes she really wants.

I love timeslip and time bending romances (Ashley Posten, Rebecca Sterle, and Kate Robb are great at these types of time slip stories). They are just so much fun to read and when done in the right way, they are so satisfying!

This one hit my satisfaction just right and I really enjoyed it. Sadie really did sacrifice herself and her beliefs at another chance but it does change who she is but for what or for who? Alex was nice but got wrapped up in his job and became a different person, not the person Sadie fell in love with. He tried to change her to fit in with his new lifestyle and it was something that she didn't realize until she was able to see it from a different viewpoint. She also opened her eyes up to Jacob and was able to view him as a romantic interest and not just her brother's friend. It was cute to see the lengths he went to to try to get her attention.

The organization of this book, months through the year, was great and kept pace for the storyline. Without feeling like it was skipping or glossing over events. It didn't drag and really did a good job of giving the reader both backstory of what happened originally and what she does in this new timeline. She second guesses everything not wanting to cause ripples but she also learns what she really wants in life and starts making decisions based on her wants and not the fear of doing something wrong. She compared what she did during her very bad year to decide what to do now and even though the new decisions were not always the best ones, and she stumbled and fumbled, she always thought things through.
