3.5 stars. I enjoyed the story and it touched on some pretty heavy things but done in a mild but respectful way. I took away half a star because sometimes the internal monologue was a bit much for my personal taste.

I LOVED this book. This is the first book I’ve actually had to pause to cry for a while. So sad but also so heartwarming. I love Katherine’s writing and look forward to reading more of her work
