A longer story picture book. Not really one that you read in one setting, which was a great change of pace.

Boys enjoyed the story, but were a bit mehhh afterwards. Can't pinpoint why? (could be a mehhh day overall! :D)

A little eccentric, a little sentimental. Sweet illustrations but just short of a ringer for me.

This book feels like the older sister of The Neighbors by Einat Tsarfati.

I bought this for my niece and couldn’t resist having a quick read before wrapping it up. It’s totally charming and the illustrations are beautiful.

“I am prehistoric and I don’t think my bones have woken up yet.”

A picture book with chapters is a rare, and in this case, utterly lovely thing. I have read more books about intergenerational friendships lately, and this one just sings. Mabel and Madame Badobedah are villains, pirates, mermaids, and simply fantastic.
