2015 50 Book Reading Challenge: A book set during Christmas

Nothing better than a cozy romance in a series that I've been looking forward to reading for a while during Christmas...well right after Christmas, but it was a busy year! Really enjoyed the story in this one. Logan and Darcy make a cute couple. There is a slight focus on children in this one, but it didn't detract from the romance. :)

I love the Lakeshore chronicles. I was wondering what ever happened to Logan after the split up with Daisy. This series is my favorite read and I fall in love with every story. I am so happy Logan found happiness. He is a good man and deserved it. I can't wait till the next book to come out. Keep them coming Susan! :)

Part of Wiggs' Lakeshore Chronicles, this is Logan's love story. Logan has changed quite a bit during the series. He's grown-up from the wild teenager to a wonderful father to Charlie. This was a nice read (even in the middle of summer)!

A very engaging read to set the stage for the Christmas Holidays in the picturesque setting of Catskill Mountains (which I love). I have read most of Susan’s Lakeshore Chronicles series, so always excited to catch up with familiar characters. If you read her earlier books you will recall Logan- when he and Daisy were together and their son Charlie.

Logan gets his shot at happiness again as a much more mature father. Darcy is a newcomer to Willow Lake (friend of his older sister). These two have a lot in common and find their way in this beautiful town to connect with family and friends with some romance to set the mood for the holidays. Glad to see Logan buying the resort and out of the boring insurance business. I would encourage you to read the entire series.

Candlelight Christmas by Susan Wiggs
Loved hearing of the legend of the Christmas pickle and the recipe!
India's friend Darcy met Logan who was at the camp with Charlie. They start talking and Logan realizes Darcy does not like kids. They get interrupted and never make it back together for a drink later that night.
India and Darcy do talk on the way home and she kinda liked Logan but just wants to remain single.
Logan had moved to Avalon to be near his son Charlie but after the divorce and she married another and moved he's bored with selling insurance in town and only seeing Charlie a few times a year.
Logan agrees to take both of the kids if Mrs. Martin needs him to.
Logan wants to take over the ski lodge, he just needs backers.
This book also follows Darcy's story and she's in the city working but her ex will be going to the family Thanksgiving dinner and she's decided to head to FL to be with India's family in the nice warm sun.
Love the family feast and more what they do after, so caring, such good memories of teaching my grandson the hokey pokey.
One morning Logan and Darcy are able to share the sight of dolphins and much more.
Her job is setting up sports shoots for equipment she's promoting, names snowboarding and he invites her and the crew to his new job: Saddle Mountain. Because of her he had taken the risk of buying it..
The Christmas holiday plans might change....Darcy misunderstands why Mrs. Martin is at the resort...and Logan can't understand why Darcy wouldn't want kids...
They do learn more about one another...maybe all the Christmas cheer, decorations, food will bring them closer...
Loved all the recipes and can't wait to try a few! Love that the book concentrates also on the kids problems, not just the adults. Priceless pickle prize at the end!
I received this book from Net Galley via Harlequin MIRA in exchange for my honest review.

"A single father who yearns to be a family man, Logan O'Donnell is determined to create the perfect Christmas for his son, Charlie. The entire O'Donnell clan arrives to spend the holidays in Avalon, a postcard-pretty town on the shores of Willow Lake, a place for the family to reconnect and rediscover the special gifts of the season.

One of the guests is a newcomer to Willow Lake— Darcy Fitzgerald. Sharp-witted, independent and intent on guarding her heart, she's the last person Logan can see himself falling for. And Darcy is convinced that a relationship is the last thing she needs this Christmas.

Yet between the snowy silence of the winter woods, and toasty moments by a crackling fire, their two lonely hearts collide. The magic of the season brings them each a gift neither ever expected—a love to last a lifetime." (From Amazon)

I really enjoyed this holiday novel in Lakeshore Chronicles. It had taken me awhile to like Logan in the series, but watching how he has changed gives you a better appreciation of this book. I always assumed that Daisy's love story would be the best so was surprised when I did not like her book. I was a bit weary about reading this book for that reason and also because it might be the last novel in the series (nothing has been published since December 2013 but there were some new characters introduced in this book that could have a story of their own). Darcy is so likeable and I really identified with her. Logan is charming and Charlie is so darn cute. Even though I have not loved every single book in this series I would still recommend it because of the great ones. I would suggest you read this series in order because characters from past books will make appearances and sometimes their past stories come out.

Perfect fast Christmas book. Even though it's number 10 in the series you don't need to have read any others. I read maybe the first 3 in the series about a decade ago and remembered nothing. Didn't matter. I'm a sucker for Christmas books.

I guess it could be good- was getting into the book until the cursing started. I don't understand the need to curse in a story, especially a holiday story that's supposed to be heartwarming. Needless to say, I abandoned this book for others written by authors who can write a good, clean, heartwarming holiday story.

Candlelight Christmas is a superbly written novel that has a lovely cast of characters and a compelling storyline. In this latest addition to the Lakeshore Chronicles series, Susan Wiggs expertly blends complex life issues with a charming romance and the resulting story is a magical love story that tugs at the heartstrings.

Candlelight Christmas is a leisurely paced romance between Logan O'Donnell and Darcy Fitzgerald. At the end of summer, they are introduced by Logan's matchmaking sister India who just happens to be Darcy's best friend. While there is a spark of interest on both sides, the timing is just not quite right for them to pair up. Fast forward to Thanksgiving where the two share a hot kiss and that spark between them gets a little more notice from both Darcy and Logan. But it is not until Darcy joins the O'Donnell family for Christmas that their relationship gets the attention it so richly deserves.

Since her divorce, Darcy has been fiercely guarding her heart. She has decided the only way to protect herself from ever feeling that much pain again is to avoid any type of emotional entanglement. While she is not averse to casually dating, she does not plan on getting too seriously involved and men with children are definitely off limits.

Logan's marriage may have ended in divorce, but he still dreams of having a large family. He is devoted to his son Charlie and he treasures the time they have together. After returning Charlie to his ex at the end of their latest visit, Logan is struck by the realization that he needs to make some changes to his life. He jumps at the chance to purchase his favorite ski lodge and throws himself into making a go of his new business. The only thing missing in his life is the big family he has always longed for.

While there is a romantic element in Candlelight Christmas, the story mainly focuses on the changes Logan and Darcy are making in their personal lives. Without the growth of the characters, a romance between them would be impossible. Once they redefine their ideas of what they want out of a relationship, their romance falls easily into place. The beauty of the Christmas season is the perfect backdrop for them to explore their burgeoning relationship.

The dynamics of their respective families add another dimension to both the storyline and the characters' growth and development. While Darcy is quite close to her parents and sisters, her interactions with them are pretty limited due to the complicated past with her ex-husband's family. Logan's decision to buy the ski lodge is met with his father's disapproval and that in turn revives his feelings of inadequacy that stem from past mistakes.

The children in Candlelight Christmas invoke many of the "awww, how sweet" moments. Charlie is a typical kid in many ways but he is a little more mature than his contemporaries because of his parents' divorce. The circumstances of Charlie's close friend Andre bring another realistic facet to the storyline and together these two manage to find a little mischief that brings Charlie closer to Darcy. While both kids are a little worldly wise, they still retain a blind faith that Christmas will bring them their greatest wishes.

Candlelight Christmas is sure to be a hit with old and new fans of this wonderful series. Susan Wiggs keeps the Lakeshore Chronicles fresh and interesting with inventive storylines and the addition of new characters. While characters from previous novels make guest appearances, newcomers to the series will feel right at home in this warm and loving community.
