I never could have predicted how absolutely batshit this book was going to be. It started out slow and stereotypically Bridgerton-y but about halfway through, things start to speed up. By the 2/3 mark, shit is absolutely popping off. We’re talking hands being thrown, blackmail, treason, gunshots, and of course a little interrupting weddings to top it off. They don’t even get peace in the epilogues!
Gregory is not even 40 and they have NINE KIDS, including two newborn twins, and Lucy damn near bleeds out after giving birth.

I kind of loved the drama of it all but I can’t forgive how completely boring Lucy and Gregory are as people. They don’t really have personalities and I wasn’t able to invest in their love like I could for most of the other Bridgerton siblings. He only gets a tiny pass for busting into a church to stop a wedding and propose to the bride himself. And I guess Lucy has some OCD tendencies too.

Unfortunately, I don’t know who I’d recommend this final book in the series to. Spice lovers will not be satisfied at all. I think maybe self deprecating messy gays could enjoy, since they finally have a little representation. That said: I had a good time and I’m ready to say goodbye to the series.

This book was well written and intriguing and satisfying but also upsetting. I was not expecting to be so surprised by the disgusting abusive behavior of some of the new characters based on the more predictable plots of previous books in the series. It wasn't an entirely unwelcome change because I imagine it was realistic, just disturbing and hard to reconcile.
The second epilogue should have had a trigger warning about the very explicit though probably  realistic blood and bodily harm to a character I'm sure many readers, like myself, will have grown a significant amount of love and empathy for (which does make the events harder to stomach). I threw up and had to skip ahead enough to not risk seeing any more so I am not exactly sure what I missed but I'm sad that I won't know the whole truth about the ending even if I stayed shaking and faint for awhile after.
Still, I give this book a 4.5 and tip my hat to Julia Quinn for writing a captivating series.

On the Way to the Wedding- 3.5⭐️ 2.75🌶️

A funny thing happened ...

Unlike most men of his acquaintance, Gregory Bridgerton believes in true love. And he is convinced that when he finds the woman of his dreams, he will know in an instant that she is the one. And that is exactly what happened. Except ...

She wasn't the one. In fact, the ravishing Miss Hermione Watson is in love with another. But her best friend, the ever-practical Lady Lucinda Abernathy, wants to save Hermione from a disastrous alliance, so she offers to help Gregory win her over. But in the process, Lucy falls in love. With Gregory Except ...

Lucy is engaged. And her uncle is not inclined to let her back out of the betrothal, even once Gregory comes to his senses and realizes that it is Lucy, with her sharp wit and sunny smile, who makes his heart sing. And now, on the way to the wedding, Gregory must risk everything to ensure that when it comes time to kiss the bride, he is the only man standing at the altar ...

✨My Opinion✨
I finished this book just in time for the Julia Quinn author event in Columbus today!

When there are 8 books in a regency romance series, sometimes plots and tropes get reused. This book was the last in the series and set up entirely different from the rest of the series. The prologue captured my attention right away.

The book features falling for the wrong girl first, blackmail, treason, scandal…

Gregory didn’t have the temper issues his older brothers did. I appreciated that, but where he was decent, Lucy’s uncle made up in misogyny.

I actually really enjoyed Lucy and her make no waves practicality. Her response to everything was so realistic and time period appropriate.

The last half of the book was drama filled and I lived for the messiness.

This might just be my favorite book in the series. It has a perfect balance of actual dramaticly engaged plot and heart tugging romance. The only Bridgerton book to bring me close to tears. The way Gregory speaks of love touched my heart, even from the jump this is one of the most truly romantic books of the series. It felt like real love. Its amazing to see Quinn's progression in skill as the series goes on. Loved this book so much

I ADORED this book, the characters were incredible, the plot was the strongest one out of all the ones in this series and it left me feeling very happy.

A great end to the series! I will miss these characters and their exploits. I loved Gregory and Lucy. It was a bit of a slow start but once they realized their feelings I couldn’t put it down!
