I read the second book first, and I think I actually like the second book a little more because there was slightly more meat to the plot, but this book is still great. pro-making stuff. amazing pictures. love. good preschool/kindergarten book

Crafty Chloe has several elements I enjoy:

1. A cute animal character with personality (her dog Bert)

2. A villain (mean girl London) who turns out not to be so villainous after all

3. A bit of a cliffhanger (what did Chloe make to give her friend?)

4. A genuine feel-good ending

Is this the next Fancy Nancy? I'm not so sure, but I do really like the illustrations (by Heather Ross who did the cover for [b:What Happened on Fox Street|7883148|What Happened on Fox Street|Tricia Springstubb|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1306188439s/7883148.jpg|11091314]), and the phrase "Chicken Pops."

I love Chloe, she is such a clever, talented and warm girl.
But the book also shows that the perfect 'product' doesn't just come around. You need to be patient, experiment and have fun until you get what you want.
Wonderful illustrations.

"anything becomes less boring with googly eyes on it." Yes! The dog on the cover looks like our dog did throughout Rachel's childhood.

I enjoyed this one. Chloe is quite talented with scissors and glue, etc. When a friend purchases a popular doll toy for another friend's birthday, Chloe needs to discover if she can come up with a gift that will be as popular. A fun book. Good read aloud.

If you know a young girl who loves doing crafts, share this book with her! In this story, we meet Chloe, who knows her way around glitter, glue and a sewing machine! She is invited to her best friend's birthday party, but doesn't know what to get her. She finally settles on getting her the "newest and greatest" doll, but a not-so-nice school friend beats her to it? What can Chloe do? She wants to get her something special.... so she gets her glitter, glue and sewing machine out and makes her something fantastic! I love the lesson that a homemade gift can mean even more than something store bought. And the not-so-nice girl gets taught a lesson too :)
Happy reading and crafting!

As a crafty girl myself, I could relate to this book, especially these lines: ..."anything becomes less boring with googly eyes on it" and "After dinner Chloe went to her room to doodle. Doodling helps her think. Thinking gives her ideas. Some ideas are pretty spectacular and require lots of glitter." TRUTH.

Chloe isn't good at sports, or dancing, but she IS good at making things. But when she decides to make something for her friends' birthday, she worries that it won't be good enough.

The illustrations are delightful and packed with details.

PS: Chloe has a GLUE GUN HOLSTER.
