Comfort from a country quilt by McEntire_ Reba
This book starts out talking about the life of Reba throughout her years.
Love the correlation of the quilt and the pieces of her life as they are depicted on the quilt. My mom also made quilts and you knew how much time she spent making them as I make them myself.
They are so treasured now that she's gone just as treasured when she gave them to you.
Found it interesting to learn how her singing career started as I don't follow country western singers. Enjoyed this story.
Loved all the chapters of giving back and memories of riding in back seat of car across country as my husband described it also to me with 7 siblings.
I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).

I've always been a fan of Reba as long as I can remember, mainly due to my grandparent's being fans. I remember reading her memoir as a preteen and thinking it was just solid gold. Comfort from a Country Quilt has remained on my TBR for 20+ years, so I was delighted to finally find it at a thrift store for $1.50 in great condition. However upon reading it, as an adult, it contained far little magic than I anticipated. It is mainly memoir, with plenty of inspiration sprinkled in. Praising "traditional values" at its heart, there's plenty of redundancy and fluffy passages that I wonder if she still agrees with over 20 years later. But all together, it is a light comfy read.

Extreme Book Nerd Challenge 2021 - Category #11
Challenge Topic: About Someone you Admire.

When I was a little girl I wanted to be a singer. When I was 8, or may I was 10, I don't fully remember, I saw Reba on TV performing as a New Artist on one of the Country Award shows. She sang "Crazy" by Patsy Cline. At the time, I was kind of obsessed with Patsy, listened to the 8 track I had of her over and over. I knew all the songs. When Reba performed that Acappella.... I was entranced. I wanted to be just like her.

Since then I have followed her career and have really admired how she works hard through all the struggles life throws at her, but she doesn't turn to drugs and violence and her perserveres. She stays true to herself. That isn't easy. This book talked about how she looks at the world, what she has gone through and she admits a couple times she was almost broken, but her music and family pulled her through.

This was a great book. I'm glad I picked it.
