I am so impressed with this book. Broken Beautiful Hearts deals with assault and PTSD and it was just how I would imagine it. I have not personally experienced either of these, but the story made it so realistic. Peyton was a strong character, and I loved that while she always stood her ground with what Reed did to her, she still struggled and I think that was so important to include in a book like this. And while she has PTSD from that situation, she also had it from how her dad died and that really plays a big part throughout the story, especially the end. While this is a romance, Peyton’s personal growth was what made this a five star read. Also she has a great name!

This started out so good but then the whole RAH RAH I AM AN ALPHA MALE AND I GOTTA FIGHT FOR YOUR HONOR thing happened and… meh… also the twist was... still, I really enjoyed the start and I thought the author handled the issues at the heart of the story really well.

This book started out really well! I loved the beginning 75% then the problems that came up were not what I was expected. I feel like there should have been more with the soccer and her recovery, rather than about high school drama and MMA fighting.
I LOVED all the secondary characters, like the twins (Cam and Christian), Grace, Tucker, Cutter, Lazarus, and Peyton's Mom.
Owen was such a sweetheart as well, I loved him as the hero I feel like he really balanced her out with his calm demeanor and stood up for her when needed.
Payton did get on my nerves sometimes with her being too stubborn and not knowing when to ask for help, when help was easily provided.
The ending to me was rushed with way too many plot twists that didn't really feel like the fit with the way the story should have gone. Also I wished the epilogue was a little different or at least the ending of the last chapter.
Overall a cute YA romance, the writing was super easy to read and very enjoyable, just some things at the end didn't go with the way I wanted it to so that is why I lowered the rating.

Oh, goodness. Broken Beautiful Hearts has much of the emotional writing of the [b:Beautiful Creatures|6304335|Beautiful Creatures (Caster Chronicles, #1)|Kami Garcia|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1327873282s/6304335.jpg|6488966] series, but with real-life, non-paranormal-inspired drama for a change. (I know I'm behind on my Kami Garcia books--that's going to have to change!)
Peyton and Owen are a great couple, once they finally get all of their secrets out of the way--and OMG, do these two have secrets. Each of them nearly let them destroy themselves and each other, but in the end are (thank goodness!) strong enough to rise above their fears and what they think is most important to them to reach for the things that really are important. I've got to say, the last two chapters of this book nearly slayed me--and then I got to the author's note at the end.
Excellent work, Ms. Garcia. A fantastic story, and a strong message. A must-read!
